This converter supplies by an input voltage of 0,9...3V (max. 10V) a controlled output voltage of approx. 15V (variable). Max. power: 7W. Efficiency; approx. 50...85%. Usage: e.g. through 4 solar cells it is feasible to charge 12V accus as well as to operate emergency transmitter, alarm systems, etc.
This voltage converter has been designed to change the low output voltage of solar cells (usually 0.3 … 0.5 volt per cell) into a stabilized higher output voltage. By this , it is made possible to produce higher voltages with lower currents in order to, for example, charges with lower currents in order to, for example, charge 12V accus or for alarm systems, navigation transmitter etc. The output voltage can be reduced. For this purpose, it is necessary to clamp a zenerdiode, of which Zener-Volatage has the desired output voltage, at both poles in the uiddle of the module ( see figure ‘z’). In case you want an output voltage of 9V, you should clamp at both poles an ordinary Zenerdiode 9.1V, 400mw (9.1V significates a standard value). The converter will supply a stabilized output voltage of approx. 8,5…9V. if the output will be loaded too much, the converter won’t start oscillation. In this case, it is convenient to connect in series a resistance with the consumer, so that current can be limited. Calculation Example: If there are connected at the input e.g. 6 solar cells each 400ma, it is possible to load the output at 15V with approx. 50…60mA. Attention: False connection, short circuits and overloads will lead to the destruction of the converter! As each converterhas been carefully tested before being delivered, there is no possibility of any compensation!
