Attention! The operating instructions must be read before starting the module! This module is operated with a direct voltage of 9-12 V. The current consumption amounts to approx. 40-100 mA. A commercial plug supply unit with a stabilized output voltage of 12 V or a 12 V - car battery is suitable for operation.
The high-voltage is between both cables of the module which are marked with the 'high-voltage arrow'. In order to get an electric shock, both connections must be touched simultaneously. It is most effective, if 2 exposed wires are stretched in parallel at a distance of approx. 20 mm and connected with the high-voltage output of the module. If the animal touches both exposed wires simultaneously, it gets an electric shock. Important: The exposed wires which shall give the electric shocks upon touching must be fastened insulated in any case! For this purpose agricultural traders supply 'insulation holders'. It must be guaranteed that there is no electrical connection between both high-voltage outputs. Furthermore there must be no direct connection of both high-voltage wires through humidity! This would cause a short circuit and during this time the electric fence generator is ineffective. The module supplies very slow high-voltage impulses (approx. 0,5-1 impuls per second).
Therefore, it usually does not cause any muscle cramps and the animal may detach from the fence again. If you need lower high-voltage impulses (e.g. for very small animals), you may reduce the energy of the electric shocks by connecting a protective resistor of 10-220 k (0.25 W) in series with each lead of the high-voltage line. The higher the value of the resistors, the weaker the electric shocks. Attention! We urgently like to point out that the electric energy of the voltage impulses is very low (at 1000 V < 2 mA).
Nevertheless, the electric shock may be dangerous for men who are ill or endangered to get a shock. Please take this into consideration during installation! It is necessary to ask a specialist for the current regulations of the VDE! In any case, fix danger signs at well visible points of the electrified fences! If you intend to install the electric fence generator inside the house as 'burglar protection' (e.g. to make door-handles and locks alive) we like to inform you that this is forbidden without special permit by the police! The legal status is that a burglar - even if he burgles your house spitefully - has the right to a healthy and intact body (it may happen that he falls down the stairs because of a shock and you have to pay compensation for injuries suffered etc.)
However, in legitimate cases there is surely a possibility that the police grants such a special permit for installation of an electric fence generator as protection against burglars. Well visible danger signs must be fixed in any case! Important: The built-in pilot light always lights up when a high voltage pulse is produced. If this fluorescent lamp does not light any longer, the electric fence generator either has no operating voltage (9-12 V) or there is a short-circuit at the high-voltage cable or the high voltage is loaded too highly (too long cable, bad insulation at the fence posts). The fluorescent lamp always flashes if there is a high voltage of > 500 V. If the voltage is lower or there is not high voltage at all, the fluorescent lamp is off. Attention: If the fluorescent lamp is not flashing, this does not guarantee the absence of voltage! Intense voltage surges may still occur, they are just lower than 500 V. A wrong connection, too high operating voltage (>13,8 V), sustained short circuit in the high-voltage line, humidity at the device, etc. will destroy the module. As the function of every module has been carefully tested, replacement at our expense is not possible.
Please use either a battery with sufficient power (which may supply the constant current consumption of 0.04 A) or a stabilised power supply to operate the device. Power supplies without stabilisation (cheap power supplies) have a much higher output voltage than indicated in case of a low load (up to an output voltage of 18 V in switch position '12 V') and will then destroy the module immediately! Disposal: This device may not be disposed of with the household waste. It has to be delivered to collecting points where television sets, computers, etc. are collected and disposed of (please ask your local authority or municipal authorities for these collecting points for electronic waste).
